Mayfield United are based on the Northside of the City
The club confirmed on Facebook that their grounds were broken into and a fire was lit on the playing surface.
The Leeside club, who play in the Munster Senior League, vented their frustration saying the fire and rubbish left behind has caused repair work that they simply cannot afford at the minute.
The club also confirmed it is not the first time their grounds have been vandalised, and that they expect more incidents to take place in the future.
