A Cork property developer is calling for better supports for first time buyers in Budget 2021

Michael O'Flynn of the O'Flynn group says affordability issues in Ireland's housing market must be addressed.

Michael O'Flynn says young people need assistance to get on the property ladder.

He added that the issues of demand and affordability in Cork cannot be fixed by simply building apartments, and that building affordable family homes outside of the City Centre would be a better solution.

He is now urging the Minster for Finance to consider measures such as extending the Help to Buy scheme and lowering VAT rates for first time buyers in the upcoming Budget.
