A grieving Cork father whose son was found unresponsive in a car in Dunmore East and died a short time later in hospital is to mark his birthday by holding a fundraising day for sick children.
James Healy of Watergrasshill, says Matthew, who died in February, “packed a lot in to his life,” and was eagerly anticipating his seventh birthday which falls today
To celebrate his birthday, a motorcycle and vintage car run will be held in Watergrasshill on Sunday with all proceeds and donations to Make A Wish, a charity which James says reflects Matthew’s fun and adventurous character.
Donations can be made to the Matthew Healy Make a Wish Foundation appeal at https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/MatthewHealyMemorial
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show James says while his life has been changed forever there is no room for negativity in getting through his huge loss
"I have an opportunity of life here in front of me, albeit forever changed. And there's going to be parts of us forever broken. It's still an opportunity of life and it can be a lovely life. And I just think if Matthew had the same opportunity he'd grab it with both hands, and I think it would be a massive insult to the loss he has suffered for me to do anything other than that, you know"
