He's been charged in connection to a cash and drug seizure in Mallow on Thursday evening
Two men were taken into custody on Mitchelstown Road in Mallow after an incident where a Garda gun was fired.
It's understood a car failed to stop at a checkpoint and a man received non-life threatening injuries to the shoulder.
During follow-up searches around 20,000 euro in cash and drugs were discovered.
The Garda watchdog is appealing for witnesses, while a second man in his 40s remains in custody.
