It's after he was charged in connection with a stabbing incident earlier this week
Gardai and emergency services were called to Pearse Square in Ballyphehane shortly after 9.30pm on Tuesday 7th April following the serious assault of a man in his 20s.
The man, who received a number of stab wounds, was taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as stable.
The incident occurred after an altercation between two groups of people in Pearse Square, a number of whom were armed with what is believed to be knives and bats.
The man due before the court this morning, aged in his early 20s, was arrested yesterday and detained at Togher Garda Station.
