The accident happened near Kinsale yesterday afternoon
Emergency services, including Lifeboat crews from Kinsale and Oysterhaven, the Coastguard's Rescue 115 helicopter, and ambulance crews attended the scene in West Cork shortly after 2.30 yesterday.
The man, believed to be from the City Centre, jumped from the popular diving spot but hit a group of rocks underneath the surface of the water and had to be dragged ashore by a friend.
He was taken via the Rescue 115 helicopter to Cork Airport and then onto CUH via ambulance where his condition has been described as very serious.
