A couple from Midleton say the death of their four day old baby boy has left a huge void in their lives
Baby Alfie died in his father's arms at Cork University Maternity Hospital in July 2020
His parents Amanda and Aidan O'Reilly settled an action against the HSE over his death but rejected an apology issued during the legal process
Speaking to RedFM News Amanda says all they have been left with is a grave
"Although we've had the HSE admit liability, there's no closure for us, you know, the HSE can move on now, the State Claims Agency can move on now, but we've the rest of our lives where we're going to have to live with the absence of our son. Every Christmas morning we have a grave to visit. Every day, our little girl mentions Alfie and includes him in our family conversations, and it's a huge burden to carry. It's a big loss"
Amanda and Aidan are fundraising for the charities that helped them during Alfie's short life and if you would like to help their campaign please click here
