A more radical approach needs to be taken to resolve the housing crisis and ensure people can have a roof over their head
That's according to Cork Simon who say homeless figures in Cork will continue to rise unless big changes are introduced to reverse the trend.
440 adults were recorded as homeless on Leeside in the last week of October, the highest monthly figure in Cork in two years.
Speaking to RedFM News Paul Sheehan of Cork Simon says the figures are alarming but he has seen no improvement on homeless numbers in Cork for many years now:
"From government, from government, from year to year, we see different approaches to the housing market and different responses to the housing crisis. And every time you see a response you live and hope that it will improve things. We haven't seen any improvement for as long as I can remember now. That's the frustrating part. If we got the housing right in this country, we would be able to address the homelessness very, very quickly."
