City Hall have announced further plans to create new cycling and walking facilities in the City.

Emmet Place, Father Mathew Street, Fitton Street East, Liberty Street, Cross Street, Castle Street and Daunt Square are being considered for pedestrianisation, while Tobin Street, French Church Street and Carey's Lane are being considered for the creation of a one way pedestrian system.

Pedestrians will be encouraged to walk on the right on foot bridges and new bike stands will be installed at 43 locations.

Cycling routes into the city are being identified and opportunities to convert sites to 'park and walk' facilities are being investigated while the establishment of set down areas to facilitate businesses is also being considered.

Timings at pedestrian crossings on the City centre island have also been altered to give increased priority to pedestrians
