The team from My Lovely Horse Rescue travelled to Cork on Wednesday night to rescue an emaciated horse discovered on the northside of the city
The mare called Farah, was found on a public green on the Banduff Road with a number of untreated cuts and burns all over her body
The horse was removed to the My Lovely Horse Sanctuary in Kildare where she was examined and found to be totally emaciated with a badly infected rope wound around her leg
Martina Kenny Co Founder of My Lovely Horse Rescue outlined some of the injuries the mare sustained which some of our listeners may find distressing
"The top of her ear seems to be missing or burnt we are not sure. Some of her body seems to be burnt or some sort of chemical thrown at her. She is emaciated. She has a really bad cut on her hock where a rope was tied tightly around her leg . She had cuts and sores all over her body which have become infected She has been through the wars and she is the sweetest, sweetest horse"
