Actor Jared Harris visited UCC today to meet with the college's film students and to view the archives of his father Richard Harris.
The Mad Men and Chernobyl star and his family donated the archives which include film scripts, letters, awards, artifacts, and photographs to UCC in October last year.
The items were in storage in Oxford in England as well as at the legendary actor’s house in the Bahamas. His children including Jared are also in the process of going through their own belongings to identify further items for the UCC archive.
Born in Limerick in 1930, Richard Harris had a career that spanned almost 50 years and starred in films such as The Field, Gladiator and the first two Harry Potter films where he played Albus Dumbledore. He was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Actor was a fan of Munster Rugby.
Speaking to RedFM News, Jared Harris- who has recently received an Irish passport- outlines why his family decided to donate the archive to UCC:
