Paperwork is keeping Gardaí off the streets - and away from their communities.
That's according to Deputy General Secretary of the Association of Garda Sergents and Inspectors, Ronan Clogher.
The organisation is calling for an immediate stop to Reform Agenda systems introduced into the Gardaí after the 2018 Report of the Commission on the Future of Policing in Ireland.
The AGSI says these systems are not working, need to be reviewed, and are keeping Gardaí away from the public.
His comments come on the same day the Lord Mayor of the City, Cllr Deirdre Forde said there are streets in the city that she would not walk down by herself - because she would not feel safe.
A Red C Poll, published by VirginMedia this week found that nine in ten respondents agreed more Gardaí are needed on the streets, with that figure rising to 96% in rural areas.
There have been calls for an increased Garda presence on the streets of Cork for years, with parts of the city being described as 'no-go' areas in recent times.
