The airlink between Bristol and Cork is to be one of the routes facing disruption ahead of the August Bank Holiday weekend - as pilots are due to stage a work stoppage.
Pilots at Emerald Airlines, the carrier which operates the regional service franchise for Aer Lingus, have served notice of a 24-hour work stoppage on Friday, the 4th August.
The route, which was launched in April, operates six times weekly out of Cork, including on Fridays:
Speaking to RedFM News, Director of Media Relations at Fórsa, Niall Shanahan says the work stoppage was inevitable:
The dispute has come about following several months where the union has attempted to engage with management of Emerald Airlines to negotiate a collective agreement on pay and terms and conditions for the pilots, and management at Emerald have refused to engage with the union in any way that led to a ballot for industrial action. And since June, the pilots have been engaged in a work-to-rule action. And then today the union served notice to Emerald management that a one-day-stoppage will take place. Next Friday, 4th August".
