Alcohol remains the number one issue that people seek help with from the Cork based Tabor Group.

The group's two addiction treatment centres supported over 330 people last year, according to their annual report released this week.

The number of clients who say alcohol is their main addiction has increased two per cent to 64 per cent.

Cocaine has also replaced cannabis as the most common drug people are seeking treatment for.

Speaking to RedFM News, Tabor Group Clinical Director Mick Devine says younger clients are more likely to report being addicted to more than one thing:

"The client cohort presenting to this unit here is a younger client so they're reporting alcohol and another substance. So it's poly-addiction. 51% of those were addicted to more than one substance. So there's kind of a cross addiction going on with the people who are presenting here. And it's 20% of the people attending Tobor Lodge are saying it a cross-addiction. Over the last number of years, it's more and more the case that you would expect young people to be poly-addicted".
