Almost €1.5million of public money has been spent on Cork's Event Centre - even though not one brick has been laid.
Cork Labour Party local area representative Peter Horgan used the Freedom of Information Act to get a copy of the project's Expenditure Report.
The report shows that over €1.492m has been spent already on legal fees and consultants, including PricewaterhouseCoopers PwC and law firm Ronan Daly Jermyn.
Enterprise Minister Simon Coveney has described the money already spent as "an investment in the future" and says once it's built it will ultimately transform Cork city
However speaking to RedFM News Peter Horgan says there has to be accountability around the public money being spent on the project
"It's incredibly frustrating that so much public money is being spent on consultancy and legal fees, and we still don't have a bricked laid for the events centre in Cork.
"What's even more frustrating is the cloak and dagger nature of having to find these documents, I shouldn't have to resort to Freedom of Information requests, there should be regular updates from the local authority, from Government on the Events Centre.
"We shouldn't have to go cap in hand begging for documents every couple of months.
"It's public money, it needs to see the light of day, we need to see what's happening with people's money."
