Chambers, on Washington Street, run by Rearden's Group is the city's only LGBTQ venue, and the decision to change the name as well as the removal of rainbow flags from inside the venue incensed regular customers

Management issued a public apology for the name change to Sinners and the cancellation of drag shows, in an effort to appeal to a wider group of university students on Freshers Week

Hundreds of people to took part in a protest opposite the bar registering their upset at the decision

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Miss Gay Ireland Stephanie Fogarty says the apology on Instagram showed management at Chambers had missed the point

"If you see the traction on Instagram right now, from people, even reacting to this so called apology, people are hurt, they are furious. There's young younger people in the community who are about 18 or 19 years old now, and this is the first time they have faced any discrimination. This is the first bit of discrimination and hurt that they have possibly experienced, and it came from a venue that was supposed to protect them"
