An Bord Pleanála has confirmed in the High Court that it will not contest or oppose a case being taken against plans for a wind farm proposed for Gougane Barra.
The wind farm with 7 wind turbines is the biggest ever wind farm proposed in County Cork.
In February, An Bord Pleanála gave the green light to the €30 million wind farm project after it had been refused planning by the County Council because of the negative impact on the landscape.
Locals launched a petition in opposition to the wind farm which attracted more than 10,000 signatures in just one week.
At the end of April, leave was given to appeal An Bord Pleanála's decision through a Judicial Review in the High Court and yesterday the Bord has confirmed that it will not contest or oppose the case and concedes at this point.
Locals say they're delighted with the result and feel that common sense has prevailed in the matter.
