The company has apologised for disruption in service in Glengarriff which it says is down to a higher that normal level of staff absences
An Post says every effort is being made to cover the affected route by relief staff
However Local Cllr Caroline Cronin told RedFM News that she believes the disruption is down to the closure of the sorting office in the town and its' transfer to Bantry
"The postman used to start at nine o'clock in the morning and finished at five, they're now starting at 7am. They're down to one man covering a huge area, he's working like ten or eleven hours and longer at peak times. He is doing an average of 160 kilometres including travelling to the sorting office in Bantry, it's a lot of work they are under severe pressure"
