70 people took part in a demonstration in Gurranabraher last night and are calling for water tankers, water filters and vouchers for bottled water as they cannot use the brown water in their domestic supply.
Uisce Eireann says they are implementing a plan which includes sampling, targeted flushing programmes and watermains replacement.
Speaking to RedFM News Cllr Brian McCarthy, says people are angry and have run out of patience.
"People were clearly very angry about this issue. It's been going on for so long, it's completely unacceptable what's been happening. More than half the network are still the old cast iron waterpipes over 100 years old. So inevitably, that was going to cause problems with such an antiquated system."
