Over 600 business people and politicians attended the awards which were held at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road last night.

Cathy Kearney joined Apple in 1989 and is now Vice President of Operations for Europe, Middle East, India and Africa.

Apple is the largest private employer in Cork with over 6,000 staff at their European Headquarters in Hollyhill.

Speaking to RedFM News, CEO of Cork Chamber Conor Healy says Cathy has nurtured Apple's commitment to Cork and has been instrumental in the company's continued investment in the region:

"They support 30,000 jobs all across the country in terms of indirect employment. They've just received planning permission for an expansion of the facility which can cater for up to another 1,300 people. So they're hugely important to Cork. They're hugely important to the national economy. And it's Cathy- as leader of that organisation, not just in Ireland but all across Europe, Middle East, Africa and India as well- she plays a major role in the success of Apple in Cork in Ireland, and Cork and Cork business from an employment and a wider spend point of view benefits hugely from that."
