Around 50 children a year make contact with Childline while attempting to take their own life.
The ISPCC is appealing for support for Ireland's only 24/7 listening service for children and young people.
The Childline team spends the equivalent of 50 full days a year talking to children and young people in immediate crisis.
Speaking to RedFM News, Aoife Griffin from the ISPCC in Cork says children that contact them are often experiencing severe neglect and abuse:
"The children are telling us, that they're scared of their parents coming home from the pub. They may be minding younger children, and they're left at home alone. There's children living in fear of being abused by a parent, children experiencing suicidal ideation. We know of 50 children who've contacted us this year alone."
