The artistic director at the Triskel Arts centre in says he cannot understand why it took 50 minutes for an ambulance to reach the theatre.
A woman in her 80s required medical treatment after she collapsed at the venue on Monday night.
Although Mercy Hospital is situated minutes away from the centre, paramedics had to drive from Milstreet to treat the woman.
Speaking to RedFM news, Tony Sheehan, said the team at the theatre had debated moving the patient themselves due to the long wait time:
We did debate whether we should just take her to the Mercy. That's not what you're supposed to do. So, we trust our professionals and we rely on them to kind of deliver a service to us. Cork is the second city, and it took 50 minutes for an ambulance to come from the county, I can't figure that out. I just can't.
