House prices have risen by 3.1% in the third quarter of this year.
That's the latest findings from the country's largest property website Daft.ie.
The average price of a home in Cork City is now €354,000, 33% above the level seen at the start of the covid-19 pandemic.
Economist Ronan Lyons says it all comes back to the lack of houses available on the market:
"Inflation is going up rather than down. This is down to a lack of supply. The reason that prices are going up as much as they are, and continuing to do so is because we're not seeing, in particular, at the moment, in the second hand segment, the amount of supply that's that's needed given the amount of demand that's there."
