Incoming TDs are being told they need to treat the housing situation as a crisis and act accordingly.
CSO figures show the average price for a home in Dublin now stands at over 600-thousand euro, 12 times the average full-time salary.
The average price of a home in Cork City is €354,000, 33% above the level seen at the start of the covid-19 pandemic.
Carol Tallan from Property District, says blockages in planning need to be removed and modern methods of construction embraced:
"We are in a crisis, and incoming politicians need to understand that they are now in crisis management, if they lobbied for re-election or newly election on the basis that they believe this is a crisis, then they need to act accordingly."
