Ian Bailey says the Garda commissioner is considering a cold case review of Sophie Toscan du Plantier's murder in West Cork
The former journalist says he has written to Drew Harris three times with the request - sending a copy to the Taoiseach.
No one's been charged here with killing the French film-maker at Toormore near Schull in December 1996.
Ian Bailey was convicted in his absence in Paris - but claims a new Garda investigation would clear him.
"My big prayer has been for a long time that the truth comes out, and the truth being acknowledged that I have nothing to do with this.
"I've written to Drew Harris recently asking for a cold case review.
"I believe that's being considered, but it hasn't been confirmed yet.
"I do all I can at every level to fight my corner, as an innocent person would."
