Cork Council of Trade Unions is calling on the Government to take a more active role as they call for a ceasefire in Gaza
A "Ceasefire Now" banner will be draped across the SIPTU building at Connolly Hall on Lapps Quay in Cork city this lunchtime
A similar banner was erected at Dublin's Liberty Hall at the start of the month .
Adrian Kane of SIPTU says the Government and Tanaiste needs to be more assertive and take a leading role on the bombardment of Gaza
"If our Government was to recognise the state of Palestine, making bold decisions like that would be game changers and other countries would follow. We all need to take a more active role to ensure that this utter destruction of a people stops as soon as possible"
