The 74-year-old former Dunnes Stores boss and Cork native, died ten days ago while on holiday in Dubai.
Friends and family gathered for his funeral in Clonsilla in Dublin earlier, along with political figures like Mary Lou McDonald, Michael Lowry and the aide de camp to the Taoiseach.
Ben Dunne's departure from the family business in the 90s made headlines - but his son, Mark, says he remained a family-oriented man:
" He was a brilliant and loving father and grandfather who would do anything to ensure the happiness and joy of his children and grandchildren. There was never a day that would go by without him calling each of us to check in - and we are all going to miss those phone calls"
