A Cork soccer club whose changing rooms and equipment were destroyed in an arson attack say it’s delighted with the response since they appealed for help.
Gardaí are investigating after a converted shipping container used by Glenthorn Celtic on the northside of the city was set on fire on Sunday night.
The club has been promised a new shipping container and a security system by two local businesses and a sports store has offered to replace some of the team kits.
Club secretary John Murphy told the Neil Prendeville Show that there has also been great support from other soccer clubs:
"Definitely turning a corner quicker than we thought we would. To put the community spirit in context, Rockmount Football Club contacted us yesterday evening and have offered help with football type support, financially they have offered us- where they have an account in Teamwear World on the southside, 'go in and get what ye want', more or less."
