Staff at MSD Brinny in Innishannon were informed of the move today.
The company employs 2,800 people at six sites in Ireland and say the reduction in their workforce is part of a strategy to ensure continued viability for the long-term.
The plan in Innishannon opened 35 years ago and manufactures a number of medicines including treatments for cancer and arthritis.
