The advice was released to priests in the diocese today
Bishop Fintan Gavin made the request in light of renewed guidance from the government last Thursday and says he wants to create as safe an environment as possible to minimise the possibility of spreading Covid-19.
The Bishop says children under the age of 13 and people who have received medical to not wear a mask are exempt from the rule which is in place for weddings, baptisms, confirmations, communions, funerals and regular mass services.
