Singer and activist Bob Geldof has accepted an award presented by UCC's Law Society.
As he accepted the accolade, he described himself as "half and half" Cork as he explained that his mother Evelyn, who died at the age of 41, was from Cork.
Her father worked at the Irish Examiner for about 50 years and Bob's parents both worked as managers at a Crosshaven Hotel for a number of years.
Bob Geldof was in Cork for the presentation of the Mutatio Factorem award by the UCC Law Society at a special event in the Boole Library.
The award is given to people who have in their career or life brought about significant change and inspiration in their industry or area of work or through their own personal life.
