A post mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a man found on the northside of the city.
The pensioner in his late 70's was discovered dead at his home in Glenamoy Lawn in Mayfield at around 9 o'clock on Saturday night.
A neighbour became concerned having not seen him for a few days and alerted Gardaí.
The coronor has been informed, and the post mortem will be carried out at the mortuary at Cork University Hospital.
