A Boil Water Notice has been issued for Uisce Éireann customers supplied by the Macroom Public Water Supply Scheme.
Roughly 4,237 customers will be affected - in Macroom town, Codrum, Masseytown, Kilnagurteen, Coolehane, Coolcower, Macloneigh, Carrigadrohid and the surrounding areas.
The utility say they have had to issue the Boil Water Notice because of elevated levels of turbidity at Macroom Water Treatment Plant, caused by the adverse weather.
Water must be boiled for drinking, preparing salads and similar uncooked food, brushing teeth and making ice.
