An Bord Pleanála has rejected an appeal to block a five-hectare extension to a limestone quarry near Ballyclough in north Cork.
35 local residents had claimed that local roads were unsuitable for the increased volume of heavy goods vehicles that the quarry would cause.
The quarry will use blasting to extract the limestone.
An Bord Pleanála approved the planning but imposed several conditions such as limiting the frequency of blasting to once per month.
