A 17 year old boy charged in connection with an assault in Carrigaline in which a man in his late teens received a number of stab wounds has been remanded to Oberstown Detention Campus until Friday.

The youth who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared before Cork District Court today charged with assault causing harm on the 16th of January at Church Hill Carrigaline.

Defence Solicitor Diarmuid Kelleher told the court that the boy is currently without a permanent residence as he is not presently welcome at his home address.

Gardaí say they have no objections to bail, however Sergeant Pat Lyons told Judge Olann Kelleher that he was concerned for the boys welfare if the boy was to be granted bail without an address to reside at.

Judge Kelleher says he had no choice but to remand the teenager to Oberstown until he appears before the court again on Friday, when a further application for bail will be made.

The judge also said that the onus is on the state to find accommodation for the teenager.
