Bus Eireann has refuted claims that the Bus Connects plan for Cork is under threat

Concerns have been raised that the company will not get the extra 80 drivers needed to roll out the plan as they are struggling to recruit drivers to service the current timetable

As a result of the lack of drivers Bus Eireann has been forced to reduce the frequency on four city routes for a 12 week period from October 20th

However Allen Parker of Bus Eireann told RedFM News they will be able to support the delivery of Bus Connects in Cork at the end of next year

"We have significant efforts underway to recruit the significant number of additional drivers that will be required to deliver Bus Connects Cork, that's both local recruitment and we're  progressing international recruitment to make sure that we can meet the growth that is required in public transport services in Cork"
