Bus Eireann say traffic congestion and the lack of drivers are 'key challenges' for Cork bus services
52 complaints were lodged with the National Transport Authority in the first three months of this year regarding Cork services
Last week Sinn Fein TD Donnchadh O'Laoighaire urged Tánaiste Micheál Martin to ensure people are not left stranded waiting for buses across the city.
Speaking in the Dail he says problems with buses "disappearing" or running up to 40 minutes late are becoming regular features of the city bus service
“Tánaiste, I raise with you the issue of buses. There is hardly a week goes by that our office isn’t contacted by several people, due to buses which have disappeared, the buses never show up, they are extremely late.
“I want to be clear that this is not the responsibility of the drivers, what is happening is, fundamentally there is a shortage of drivers in Cork City and I would be very surprised if your office isn’t getting the same calls"
