Bus Eireann says the quality of the service in Cork city has been negatively impacted by the challenges posed around the recruitment of drivers
11 drivers are currently in training however they are still short 16 drivers in order to run a full timetable of services across the city
As a result of the headcount challenge, Bus Eireann has been forced to reduce the frequency on four routes for a 12 week period from October 20th
Allen Parker of Bus Eireann told RedFM News they are making progress in their recruitment drive and the temporary reduction will allow them to deliver a more reliable service
"It is a temporary reduction, we are hoping within twelve weeks we will be at a position where we can then start returning the frequency to normal on a route by route basis. That's the timescale we're currently working to and within that time period that has been quoted, we are looking to be in a position where we will have additional drivers starting work, to allow us on a route by route basis to put the full timetable back in place"
