In a statement this evening the NTA say they are reviewing all of the feedback they received as part of the last public consultation which closed on Thursday May 25th.

A spokesperson says the review will take a number of months and that no decision has been made on whether to hold a third round of public consultation on the proposals for the 11 sustainable transport corridors.

The NTA say they are also assembling traffic data for the City and running the South West Regional Transport model with the proposed STCs which will inform the likely impacts on Cork traffic.

A report on the outcomes of the modelling work will be published in the coming months and the views of the public will be sought.

BusConnects will add another round of public consultations after lobbying from the Labour Party.

It comes as 4,300 submissions were received under the latest round of consultation.

It's after the NTA launched the second round of public consultation on the Sustainable Transport Corridors which ran from March 23rd till May 25th of this year.

The National Transport Authority will publish the data collected over the coming months and the public will be able to express their views for the next round.

Speaking to RedFM News, Labour's Peter Horgan says the public need to have their say so people will start using the bus.

"There needs to be a push to use our public transport system more, and I want to see that coming from City Council and the NTA, the benefits of using the bus.

"If we get people on the bus now, that tells a whole different story that people want the works to begin on the BusConnects corridors.

"If you look at the 220, it was the first 24 hour bus route in the country, Over 2 million people used it last year alone in Cork city. That shows that people on that route believed in its reliability, believed in its efficiency, and voted with their feet."
