Business owners in the city say most of the illegal parking on MacCurtain Street is down to delivery drivers.
The revamped street opened at the end of November allowing buses and cars travel in both directions.
The City Council have since issued almost 100 parking fines to drivers parked in loading bays, bus stops and footpaths on the street.
Speaking to RedFM News, Philip Stokes from Stokes Clocks MacCurtain Street, says deliveries and collections need to be possible for business owners:
"The legal backing technically is the delivery drivers that's what it is but but I mean they need to deliver and likewise I have a big problem because a lot of my clients are from well outside the county. They come from Wexford Wicklow Dublin everywhere. And they can't carry a six foot clock on their back from the bus station of the train station. So, you know, it's affecting me already, to a negative extent, yeah."
