Business owners say the rise in anti-social behaviour in Cork city is negatively impacting trade

Shop and cafés are already seeing an increase in footfall with summer tourists but owners say it’s dampened by the number of drunk people on the street.

It’s been announced that 6 additional Gardaí will be on the beat on the city’s streets during the day for the summer months.

Speaking to RedFM News Eileen Domiati of Dulce  Bun House on Oliver Plunkett Street says they have to police their premises to protect their customers' experience

"A lot of people are disturbed by what they're seeing and hearing on the streets, and it is where we have to ask people to move on, to stop the begging. stop bothering clients who are sitting on their seats trying to enjoy their time. In addition, of late, I have noticed that  they're not only just walking intoxicated, but they're now shouting at each other in loud voices from one end of Oliver Plunkett Street to the other"
