Businesses wishing to offer jobs to Ukrainian refugees living in Cork need to keep accommodation options in mind.
That's according to the Manager of IRD Duhallow, Maura Walsh.
The rural community organisation is coordinating the volunteer response to the new arrivals in the Duhallow region of North Cork.
It has seen a large influx of Ukrainian refugees in recent days.
Speaking to RedFM News, Maura says IRD Duhallow works to pair Ukrainians who are eager to work - with potential employers:
"When we meet the people, we inquire from them all, 'Are you looking to work here?' 'What did you work at last? What would you like to work at in the future? What are you qualified in? What have you experience in?' We take their English language capacity. You know, if there is another business, if they're looking for specific skills, let us know. I would be saying to any of the businesses that are looking for specific skills, I would also be saying look at the accommodation as well, because they can't be expected to stay in Millstreet and travel off under their own resources to wherever and back again. That accommodation will need to be put in place."
