A spike in violence on the north side of Cork city on Tuesday night has led to calls for an increased garda presence in the area
Two teenagers had to be hospitalised after Gardaí were called to a car on fire after it crashed into a bollard on Kilmore Road in Knocknaheeny
Fireworks were set off at the scene and some were aimed at Gardaí and emergency service crews.
Speaking to RedFM News, Local Councillor Mick Nugent says urgent action needs to be taken to stamp out this kind of anti social behaviour
"I think we need the guards and perhaps the City Council, and other youth services and other relevant agencies and public representatives to come together to discuss and reflect on what happened. I think it also brings into onus as well the level of guards, the ability of the guards to respond to an incident like this and adequate numbers to deal with the situation"
