A man was hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed in a pub in the Paul Street area of the city on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile a young woman was assaulted at a taxi rank in the early hours of Sunday morning on Grand Parade when a man approached her and her friend and punched her in the face.
It's understood Gardaí who were nearby quickly responded and arrested a man at the scene.
It's prompted calls for a crackdown on anti-social behaviour and an increased Garda presence in the city centre by evening.
