A man was hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed in a pub in the Paul Street area of the city on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile a young woman was assaulted at a taxi rank in the early hours of Sunday morning on Grand Parade when a man approached her and her friend and punched her in the face.
It's understood Gardaí who were nearby quickly responded and arrested a man at the scene.
It's prompted calls for a crackdown on anti-social behaviour and an increased Garda presence in the city centre by evening.
This woman's boyfriend was in the pub on Paul St when the stabbing occurred and she told RedFM News that she wouldn't feel safe walking around the city after 6pm in the evening:
