An immediate and full investigation is being called for into how footage of a female bus driver, shot with an airgun, was circulated online.
SIPTU says the woman was traumatised by the incident which happened while she was on duty in Limerick last Friday.
The union is also renewing its call for the introduction of a dedicated transport police unit.
SIPTU Divisional Organiser, Adrian Kane says the female bus driver wasn't badly injured, but was deeply traumatised about the online footage of the attack:
"But it's doubly insulting then that that the video footage has become available on social media, and that shouldn't have happened, really shouldn't have happened. and we're looking for an investigation as to how that has leaked out. and it's bad enough, as I say, the incident having happened, but, but it certainly shouldn't have been leaked out."
