A former Lord Mayor of Cork City has called for the banning of a legal cannabinoid which is being sold in some vape shops
HHC has been linked to a number of incidents in which young people have become ill after vaping
Councillor Colm Kelleher has written to the Health Minister calling for the semi-synthetic cannabinoid to be banned
Speaking to RedFM News he says HHC is readily available in vape shops and has a very negative impact on mental health including anxiety and depression
"It's a psychosis inducing substance. There's issues with anxiety issues with depression, the fact that it's a synthetic, designer drug. When people stop smoking it, or vaping it- the withdrawal symptoms are far worse than than normal cannabis, I'm told."
