A cancer support service in the city says it will put up a fight to keep its building.

The building on St. Paul’s Avenue which is rented by Iris House Cork Cancer Support has been put up for sale.

The charity which supported over 1000 people with cancer last year needs to raise 300 thousand euro to buy the premises.

Speaking to RedFM News, CEO of Iris House Linda Goggin James says the charity has invested too much in the building to let it go:

"€75,000 plus because the building hadn't been used for a long time. The building had to have a lot of work put into it. So a lot of money has been put into making it a comfortable home for people to come into and feel happy and safe in here."
