West Cork food producers Carbery Group have been named the overall winner of the Cork Chamber Cork Company of the Year Awards 2022.
The award was handed to the group at a gala dinner at Páirc Uí Chaoimh last night which was attended by almost 1,000 people from businesses across the city and county.
Green Rebel received the Emerging Company of the Year award, Simply Blue Group were named Cork SME and Altada were given the large company award.
Speaking to RedFM News at the awards ceremony, CEO of Carbery Group Jason Hawkins says they are delighted with the win:
"Carbery has been in existence for nearly 60 years and it's great to be rewarded here this evening and be recognised by our peers. I think Carbery has been a great story in terms of an indigenous Irish company; West Cork, starting effectively with a number of farmers coming together looking to invest in the business and growing that business steadily over the years to the business that it is today in terms of being over half a billion Euro in sales."
CEO of Cork Chamber of Commerce Conor Healy told RedFM News what they were looking for when compiling the shortlist of potential winners:
"Innovative companies, companies that are in a space that's growing, that are tackling the market and really successful companies but those who are equally focused on areas in terms of sustainability, diversity, inclusion, and bringing an all rounded offering in terms of their business so it's a very difficult role in terms of trying to even shortlist those companies."
