Newport News, a city in the state of Virginia, has asked the Cork town if they would be interested in a twinning arrangement.
The Echo report that members of the Carrigaline Municipal District that the mayor of Newport News requested the twinning arrangement.
It’s reported that in 1621, two settlers from Carrigaline landed on the James River in Virginia and established a large homestead, in what is now Newport News.
Carrigaline Municipal District say they are giving considerable thought to the twinning request.
