A letting agent on the south side of the city says splitting Carrigaline into two Rent Pressure Zones doesn’t make sense.

Carrigaline Local Electoral Area recorded a new tenancy rent inflation of 7 percent over the last year according to the RTB.

The area now meets the criteria to be designated as a Rent Pressure Zone where landlords can only increase rent by 2 percent annually – something that has been in place for the other half of Carrigaline for 8 years.

Speaking to RedFM News, Pauline O’Sullivan from Prime Letting Agents says the town should be considered as one zone:

"I mean you're splitting a very small town it doesn't make sense, I mean Douglas isn't split. It's a very small town. Maybe at time it was seen as rural, but it's certainly not now."
